Spring Is Just Around the Corner
Daylight savings time begins this weekend, marking the unofficial start of spring. After months of heavy sweaters and coats, even a few warm days can make our winter wardrobes suddenly feel overly bulky.
I’ve compiled a few simple and inexpensive ways to freshen up your wardrobe as the weather begins to warm.
Trending Colors for Spring 2026
Below is a quick overview of some of the colors you’ll see in stores this season.
Warm Tones
Warm colors contain yellow or golden undertones and feel lively and sunlit.
Examples include:
Yellow – butter, marigold, goldenrod, honey
Orange – apricot, coral, tangerine, peach
Red – tomato, poppy
Green – olive, moss, warm chartreuse
Neutrals – camel, warm beige, cream, chocolate
Tip: Warm colors pair beautifully with gold jewelry, tan accessories, and ivory instead of stark white.
Cool Tones
Cool colors contain blue undertones and create a crisp, polished appearance.
Examples include:
Blue – sky, powder, cobalt, navy
Pink – rose, raspberry, fuchsia
Red – cherry, cranberry, blue-red
Purple – lavender, lilac, violet
Neutrals – charcoal, stone, cool taupe, crisp white
Tip: Cool colors pair well with silver jewelry, charcoal accessories, and bright white.
A Quick Comparison
Many colors exist in both warm and cool variations. For example, olive green carries warm yellow undertones, while emerald green contains cool blue undertones. Seeing colors side by side often makes these differences easier to recognize.
Color Season Matters
Hue (warm vs. cool) is only one piece of the puzzle when determining your most flattering colors.
A complete personal palette also considers:
• Value – whether colors are light or dark
• Chroma – whether colors are soft or bright
When these factors align with your natural coloring, they create a palette that feels harmonious and make clothing, accessories, and makeup choices much easier.
Silhouettes and Patterns
Spring styles continue to favor soft structure and relaxed shapes. Look for soft blazers, straight or wide-leg pants, and easy A-line or wrap dresses that allow movement while still looking polished.
Patterns add interest this season, with florals, stripes, and modern abstract prints appearing across many collections.
Understanding which silhouettes and patterns complement your proportions can make shopping far easier and help you build outfits that feel balanced and flattering.
Add a Few Fresh Pieces
You don’t need a completely new wardrobe each season. Often, adding just a few updated choices can bring new life to clothes you already own.
Lightweight Spring Sweater
This lightweight sweater in fresh spring hues is a great transitional piece.
Pair it with denim or ivory jeans while the weather is still chilly, and layer with a trench or denim jacket if needed. As the weather warms, wrap around the shoulders as an extra layer when air conditioning is chilly indoors.

Polka Dot Mary Jane Flats
Polka dots are very on-trend this season. These flats can easily be added to black pants, a skirt, dress, or denim, white or ivory jeans and colored pants.
The polka dot pattern acts as a neutral while adding a bit of interest to a simple outfit.

Floral Midi Dress
A simple floral dress is another easy spring addition.
It can be dressed up with heeled sandals and a blazer, or styled more casually with white sneakers, flat sandals and a denim jacket. You could also layer it with a cropped cardigan or tie a denim shirt at the waist for a relaxed daytime look.
